Focus and Scope

Rechtsvinding Journal is a peer-reviewed academic journal specializing in legal development, legal reasoning (rechtsvinding), and regulatory reform, with a primary focus on the formation, evaluation, harmonization, and effectiveness of laws and regulations within civil law and common law traditions.

The Journal emphasizes law as a normative, institutional, and policy instrument for governance, public administration, and socio-economic development. It gives particular attention to Indonesia and comparative jurisdictions, while maintaining a strong international and transnational perspective.

Rechtsvinding Journal covers, but is not limited to, the following areas:

  1. Law-Making and Regulatory Development, including legislative drafting, regulatory design, legislative policy, and the dynamics of statutory and subordinate legislation.
  2. Evaluation and Harmonization of Laws and Regulations, including regulatory consistency, overlap and conflict of norms, synchronization of sectoral regulations, regulatory impact, and legal system coherence.
  3. Rechtsvinding and Legal Reasoning, including judicial interpretation, methods of legal discovery, jurisprudential development, judicial argumentation, and the role of courts in shaping and developing legal norms.
  4. Legal System and Institutional Performance, including courts, regulatory agencies, ministries, and other state institutions, with emphasis on legal effectiveness, legal certainty, accountability, and good governance.
  5. Public Law, Administrative Law, and Regulatory Governance, including constitutional development, administrative justice, public sector regulation, and the role of law in public policy implementation.
  6. Comparative and Transnational Legal Development, including comparative regulatory systems, harmonization with international and regional legal frameworks, and the influence of global and transnational legal norms on domestic law-making and legal development.
  7. Socio-Legal and Policy-Oriented Legal Studies, where interdisciplinary approaches are used to assess the impact, effectiveness, and responsiveness of legal norms in society and governance.

Rechtsvinding Journal welcomes doctrinal, conceptual, empirical, and policy-oriented research that contributes to improving the quality, coherence, and effectiveness of legal systems, and to advancing evidence-based law reform and legal development.
